Operation Pass Through - 8/23/2008

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 at the Ocean County Fire & EMS Training Center, Waretown, NJ. The state's first funded drill of its kind will start at 8:00 AM with cooperation from multiple surrounding area agencies including: Haz-Mat, Fire, EMS, and County and State agencies. This drill will be the first of its kind on a few fronts. The state has never had a drill of this sort being performed and this is the first time REAL, LIVE victims will be used. This OPERATION PASS THROUGH is a drill on a mass decontamination process during a large-scale incident. The state has given a guideline of a time frame in which the agencies involved will provide a live demonstration to determine whether or not the time frame is reasonable for guidelines in future incidents.

All personnel from the Berkeley Emergency Response Team are urged and encouraged to attend or even help with the drill. A lot of money, time, and effort has been put into this drill to ensure its success and demonstrations of the county's capabilities with the Ocean County Haz-Mat Team (BERT), its Central and Southern Decon Task Forces, Fire, and EMS agencies in the unfortunate event that a real-life incident actually occurs.

Those wishing to provide help and support should meet at Station 85's Haz-Mat building no later than 7:00 AM on Saturday for loading, final preparations, and departure to the Ocean County Fire & EMS Training Center. Those that cannot make it to the Haz-Mat building, aren't affiliated with any other agency taking part in this drill, but still wish to help may meet at the Ocean County Training Center in Waretown off of Route 9 (the Training Center's access road is right next to the new ShopRite recently built there - a road sign will display this).
